I don't think so.

I've just taken my engine in to be machined (at last, how long has that taken me?), and the bloke said he had not seen one with the trigger wheel on the back before.

Its a late CVH from an escort, carb with mapped ignition.

Interesting site

Found this ages ago, but it was on AOL hometown which was deleted by AOL.
But I found it again.

http://www.s262612653.websitehome.co.uk ... timing.htm

It is mainly concerned with tuning distributors, but the theory is good, and there is some useful info. there.

I'm getting no response at all from hyperterminal.

Will try another computer.
Neither computers have serial ports.

I worked before with the USB cable I have. Then just suddenly stopped.

No, I'm afraid not.
The engine is in bits, and the car is in even more bits.

And I doubt I'd be allowed to cut up the loom on the other car to test this out.

Very strange.

All the tests showed perfect power supply.
Now I'm even more confused.

Well, I have tried to load new firmwear.

Tried a new cable, a different computer etc.

There is no resistance between the positive and negative pins on the MJLJ.
So I'm confident there is no power getting to the device.

Well I've been away for a while.
But I'm getting this project back on track.
I've pluged it into the comptuer and still nothing.
I've used a 9V battery and a transformer with 9V and 12V settings.

Does anyone have any ideas on this?
I' don't really want to buy a new one.

Melted the solder on every component and retested using 9V battery on a different computer.

Still nothing.

MJLJ configurator reads:
Timeout reading runtime Data.

The resistance on each component is correct.

There is no resistance between the +ive pin and -ive pin.

Not sure if this is usual.

Will try what you have suggested tomorrow.

Stopped working!!

Was bench testing my MJLJ with TPS using 12V DC from a mains adaptor. All fine. Config. of TPS went as planned. No problems. Powered off. Fine Came back to repeat test, and nothing. The software will not "see" the MJLJ! I had changed nothing. I had not restarted the computer, anything! I'v...

Ford ESC

Hi I've just been given a ford esc ignition control box.
It has a vacuum take off going straight into the control unit.

Is this unit suitable for use with MJLJ?

I'm guessing not.

Thanks

I don't know if this would be possible, but its a thought that crossed my mind. Using the swithing map function on the V3.1, would it be possible to use one of the programmable outputs to switch the option input at a certain RPM. For example, set rpm load sites every 500 rpm, than at say 5000 rpm se...

Thanks for the link Conrad Bit of advice for anyone else, it's not hc08sprg.exe COM1 mjlJunior-V3.1.0.s19 It's hc08sprg.exe COM1 mjlJunior_V3.1.0.s19 (Note underscore) that you put into the DOS window. It then reads; waiting for HC08 reset ACK (add power) ...recived 0xfc <good>. Calibration break pu...

Problem installing new firmware.

Hi guys. Having some trouble installing the new firmware image. (version 3.1) The help page says "download the "PC bootloader programming software" (hc08sprg.exe)" "From the same area where you downloaded the new firmware". However I can't find the PC bootloader program...
