Tacho conversion for Megajolt setups

I've deprecated the old attiny based tacho conversion project and created a new one based on standard components. Should be as simple to build as the original one but does not require a programmer or software anymore. The conversion allows you to not only run your original tacho with a megajolt setu...

So it could be an RPM limitation of Johns EDIS8 module which could lead to the tach output issues we see? Not sure how the tach signal is generated in the MJs firmware but when the PIP input signal gets corrupted then the tach signal will probably also miss out.

Erraneous tach output in a high rev engine load condition?

Hi, Ferraripilot is using a new tach pcb i designed for conversions of Veglia and Smiths RCV/RCI tachs to run with the Megajolts digital tach output, and he encountered needle bouncing around 6500rpm but only when the engine is under load. My tach circuit cleans up and stabilize the input signal so ...

My favourite one is the great Ford quote and the missing tooth, hilarious :)
Here are some more, got a bit carried away in the process though.

Correct, if you wire the tach via the MJ tach output, no tach activity is a good indicator that you are probably in limp mode.

My Megajolt installation has been finished last week, and the 240Z started at once on the very first test - nice product, thanks Brent! :) I had no time to post an installation report yet but will do as soon as i have visited the rolling road. When running the car with the Megajolt disconnected to f...

Re: Voltage Divider

That will work. But then there is still the problem of generating a calibration chart for the original gauge-sensor combination, how do you do that? Also, 12V to the gauge varies a lot from say, idle with lights on, to full speed no load. That voltage variation will cause the MJLJ gauge to change e...

Re: Temp Sensor

That would NOT be OK, for a couple of reasons. The 2.2K resistor in the MKLJ would throw off your present circuit. Even if the 2.2K were disconnected, it is likely your present circuit sometimes exceeds 5 volts at the sensor. The MJLJ can't be calibrated outside of 0 to 5 volts. But connecting a se...

Do you want to measure the average or peak current? 220 mA sounds quite low for 1000 RPM, i would have expected at least 1-2A. Have you measured the current with a digital multimeter or a scope with a current clamp? The coil's primary current spikes are quite fast (1-4 ms, depending on dwell with an...

Trigger Wheel, shrink fit vs. bolting/welding?

After talking to my machine workshop i opted to shrink fit the trigger wheel, as the guy there assured me that a shrink fit is quite robust, as it can even be used to fit gears on a shaft. The trigger wheel was machined on a late so that the inner diameter is 1/10 mm smaller than the (machined) oute...

Datsun 240Z Wiring Diagram

Here is the initial wiring diagram which i did for the documentation of my 240Z conversion to Megajolt. I thought it might be helpful to post it here before i finish the full documentation.
