Wow, forgot about updating after the track. 16.6 @ 82mph  . I suppose the limiting factor here is the portly driver (cresting 290 right now), because I expected at least a 16 flat. Ah well, I didn't build it for drag racing, so I suppose it's not a big deal. I've sold off my dual DHLA carbs and...

Heading to the dragstrip next weekend, and will be bringing my laptop :D. I don't expect better than a 16 sec pass...but I'll finally have a good place for some 'seat-of-the-pants' adjustments. Recently did a 2.25" exhaust...holy earplugs Batman. Should be interesting at 7000 rpm, so I'll be br...

I use a .030"-.025" MIG tip in the main vacuum line, works wonders :D.

brent.... fantastic idea!! requirement 1) know the stock ignition curve http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/3172/distributorcurves.jpg just out of curiosity - what would happen if i made a 2d map based on that curve? would it not perform like stock? Broke4speed - this is car #14, i know it's not the c...

By jetted correctly do you mean wideband-tuned or old-school-possibly-inadequate-for-new-high-power-ignition-system-tuned?

You're positive it's timing related? It almost sounds like the carbs are jetted too lean.

Sorry man, but if the plugs are white, then it's lean. Trust the plugs and ignore the air fuel gauge (is it a wideband or a narrowband gauge?). Plugs don't lie, gauges do. Perhaps the EDIS is simply magnifying an existing fueling problem by providing a stronger spark at high RPMs than the stock dist...

I whipped up the handy RJ-11-to-serial adapter from the manual, and use a 3' serial-to-USB cable/adapter. That way, all that peeks out from behind the dash is the USB portion. Very convenient, and I never have to worry about losing the adapter.

Not much in the way of updates, the MJLJ unit is just too reliable and steady! I recently inadvertently took the car off the road for a couple weeks to change the clutch...which turned into pulling the engine out completely. I had to change the clutch lever seal as well, so figured what the hey...le...

If I could find a three pin weatherpak connector for a spare GM 1bar MAP I have, I'd give this a try once I put the engine back in my car. I'm perfectly happy with the TPS setup though, so it would only be out of sheer curiosity...and sometimes I do more damage than good when motivated by that ;).

Cool. I'm still enjoying my TPS-based system, and live in a very flat area, so no need to mount an external MAP outside of satisfying my own need to tinker, lol.

External MAP sensor in place of TPS?

First off: I love my MJLJ. It took my driveable car to a whole new level. It fires up so easily now, and no flatspots anywhere now :D. Second: I'm currently on a TPS-based setup, which works very well for me, but I was daydreaming one day and wondered about something. Since a typical MAP sensor (say...

Without the timing belt covers, I can do the timing belt in about 10 minutes now! :D Just dynoed today, very happy with the results. 105whp / 119wtq, stock head, neuspeed 256 (+4* on cam gear), 32mm chokes in the carbs, stock dual outlet manifold/downpipe, and 1.5" exhaust :D. This is with a ba...
