Hi Basha Sorry, I can't really help you, I haven't had to think about Megajolt since I fitted it almost 5 years ago, and I don't know anything about fuel injection, I've got carbs. What car is the engine in? An Alfa 33? My map looks different to this with a bigger spread and more advance throughout ...

Driving at higher altitudes

What are the affects on the engine of driving at higher altitude and what changes in timing advance can be made to help performance at altitude? I'm driving from the UK around the Swiss Alps in July, with altitudes of up to about 2,000 metres (over 6,500 feet). The map I'm on currently is perfect he...

Thanks for that link Brent - It works fine now! (I spoke to Chris at Trigger Wheels and there are two diodes and a zener, as expected.) Instead of using the Trigger Wheels circuit, I made up a new circuit, as per the link above, to include two 110K Ohm resistors and it works fine - revved smoothly u...

Thanks Brent, that makes sense. I'll try it. (I assume the resistors have to be in parallel with the diodes and not just in series?) Do you know what is included in the Tach driver sold by Trigger Wheels? It's difficult to tell under the heavy shrink tubing and it's not stated on their website. It l...

Tacho problem

I'm using a 1968 Porsche 912 (VDO) tacho with a Alfa Romeo flat 4. It's mid engined, and the MJLJ and Edis modules are behind me in the cockpit, with a long wire going to the tach in the dash Before installing Megajolt, I ran the tachometer off the coil in the usual way and it worked fine. Since ins...

Thanks Danny.
Can anyone make any coments on the dyno print out, and where I could perhaps make any improvements? (other than make any changes to the engine!)

Thanks Danny, yes that's me. I thought I'd messaged you when I started the Megajolt project, obviously not. It was inspiring to see another 550 with the same ignition system, I think a lot of the other DIY guys on Spyderclub would find it a worthwhile upgrade.

Looking good in white by the way!!

Ignition Map.

It starts and idles faultlessly, and pulls evenly through the rev range to 6500rpm (though I rarely take it above 5500). I'll scan and attach the dyno results when I get chance.

Alfa Boxer 1.7 8valve

I fitted Megajolt earlier in the year and spent a couple of hours on the rolling road at Northampton Motorsport to get it tuned correctly. Since then I've done about 2K miles.

Alfa Romeo flat four, 1700, 8 valve.

I'm working on a map for my alfa 33 1.7 8 valve, they're probably quite similar. I found a graph of the ignition curve for the early Alfasud - probably 1300 (printed in 1975!). Although they state 8'@idle - 22'@2000rpm and 36'@4500 this graph looks really low - can anyone explain this? (I'll try and...

Hey Danny!

Thanks for the welcome - I can't wait to get this up and running! Almost there.
