Each coilpack will energise the HT leads in pairs, with 40kV appearing at a pair of HT terminals simultaneously, but they are not dependant on each other to work. To check the spark: - remove all the plugs to ease cranking - have 3 HT leads going 'nowhere' i.e. no plug inserted in end of lead - in s...

Hi, See the Configuring Normally Aspirated or Forced Induction section from http://www.autosportlabs.net/MJLJ_V3_Operation_Guide , can measure up to 21 psi of boost with the standard MAP sensor specified. More boost = more heat => bigger intercooler to keep the charge temperature down and gain the a...

I've got some spares as I bought a couple of PC connectors from Maplins - send me your address and I'll post them (at some point!).

Hi, yes this is the expected behaviour. When rpm<457, it will always use the upper left cell, which allows you to set a 'cranking' advance value in this cell (6 degress in your case). When rpm>457, it will respond as expected to the MAP value. P.S. It also looks like you need to select 'MAP' (rather...

Sounds like the MAP sensor is reading vacuum correctly when you test it with the syringe. Is your vacuum take-off fully *downstream* of the throttle butterflies? i.e. inbetween the butterfly and the cylinder head. A reading of 100kPa at idle can be due to the takeoff being upstream of the butterfly ...

As its an *acceleration* I imagine its rpm/second figure, e.g. if your engine increases 78rpm in 1/4 second then accel = 78/0.25 = 312. Hopefully someone with firmware knowledge can confirm/correct. Oh and looking at some of my logs I've just noticed the timestamps do not always increse e.g. I have ...

Hi richard, a couple of things spring to mind: 1. Does your engine rotate clockwise? If so, the missing tooth will pass the VR sensor at 90 degrees (see 2) AFTER TDC (not before). This will make it approx 180 degrees out and may explain why you had to swap your ignition leads over (1&4 with 2&am...

Mik, Not 100% sure what you mean by 'top' and 'bottom' MJ connection, but sounds like it's not quite right. Going from your pic, the centre WHITE wire needs to go to the 'TPS INPUT' terminal, and the outer 2 wires YELLOW and BROWN should go to EARTH and the 'TPS VREF' pins, swapping just these two a...

I'm sure that what Rich means...
Indeed it is, I was referring to the columns of advance values, not the load axis itself.

Hi, an initial scan reveals your map is effectively 'upside-down'!! The top row with the lowest pressure is for closed-throttle (low load) and the bottom row with the highest pressure is for open-throttle (high load). Conventionally, you can increase the advance at low load/part throttle, so the num...

Construct a map with 10 degrees in *every* cell, and drive the car both with and without the MJ connected. In theory the timing should remain at 10 degrees in both cases - if there is a difference in the running, then the EDIS<->MJ communication is going awry somewhere. Have you tried this yet??? I...

Hmm.....a few further ideas: I'm concerned that you said it ran OK on EDIS only, but poorly with 8 degrees in the MJ map, which is very close to the EDIS-only 10 degrees. Construct a map with 10 degrees in *every* cell, and drive the car both with and without the MJ connected. In theory the timing s...
