Found on the dyno that I was getting some detonation at sustained wide open throttle. Took some timing out and delayed the start of the advance over what I had.

Picked up a Win 10-compatable USB serial adaptor off ebay for $8, works good and I was able to connect and edit my timing curve.

Ok, got the adaptor to work by installing an older version driver. Now I get the message:
"Timeout reading cylinder count".
Now what?

Can't open port after migrating to Windows 10

Never had a problem connecting with XP but now with Win 10 I can't open the port. Same computer, same hardware, running V4.0.2. I've double checked the port number and port settings. Looking at the port in device manager I get the message: "This device cannot start. (Code 10) {Not Enough Quota}...

I've seen the boots and terminals for sale but don't remember where. They wanted almost as much for the boots and terminals as what a new set of wires cost. I found a nice set of spiral core wires on evilbay and just trimmed down the spark plug boots to fit.

4, 6, or 8 cylinder module? From what I've read the fewer the cylinders the higher they allowed them to rev, but I don't know any specific part numbers. I did see online one time where some had tested a bunch of modules and listed their rpm limits but I didn't save the link. Maybe do a search and yo...

The same Megajolt module is used regardless of the number of cylinders. RPM is limited by the particular EDIS module used, not the Megajolt. And different EDIS modules have different rpm limits depending on original application.

Good to see another American Ford V8 using Megajolt. You're gonna love it!

It should work ok but if you have another switch that you use to arm the nitrous system it might be better to use that. Then you know the ignition advance program has had time to settle. That's the way I ran my ignition retard box back when I used to spray.

How you wire it depends on if your switch applies +12V or ground for the solenoids or a relay. The Megajolt option switch wire is normally held high by a pull up resistor, grounding that wire switches maps. A couple different ways to do what you want, just depends on what your switch is doing.

I haven't looked at the coil drivers of my EDIS8. As I understand it the EDIS sinks the coil to ground (or close to it) while charging the coil and then opens to fire the coil. Somewhere online I've seen a scope trace that showed what you're looking for, each coil (-) ramped up until the coil satura...

Every time a coil fires, the flyback voltage generates an IDM signal (pin 2). You should have a positive IDM pulse for every PIP signal. It occurs just before the PIP rising edge. If not it means one of the coils isn't firing.
How do the two coil inputs compare to each other?

The coil is basically grounded which causes current flow and the coil charges. When the ground is removed the magnetic field in the coil collapses through the windings and fires the plug.
