The RacePak G2x may be complex under the skin, but you don't see that as a user. There's three sockets on the back; power, RPM and CAN. It's absolutely plug-and-play. The down side is the cost of extra sensors, which is why I now use it solely as a dash with my RCP doing all the data logging. I have...

I think it's fair to say that what you want isn't RCP and isn't available at the $400 price point unless you're able to write your own Android software and make your own hardware interface (which probably wouldn't be as reliable as Bluetooth). There's lots of systems that fit your criteria. I run a ...

I think you'll have more problems hooking up a USB cable to your phone in a waterproof manner and finding a phone display clear and bright enough that you can read it whilst driving. Unless you're endurance racing or forget to charge it, I can't see a phone battery going flat during competition. Bes...

I've not used the RCP Bluetooth, but I've used enough Bluetooth GPS dongles logging to a phone to know that phones tend to be reliable enough for data logging. There's more important things to worry about than working out a hardwired solution for your phone; the logging is all carried out on the RCP...

Any ideas how to read the serial port with RCP? I think it's beyond me at the moment - I suspect it's a firmware thing as LUA isn't going to parse serial data fast enough, is it? OnTick only runs at 1Hz... On a similar note, I've got a TTL serial output from my ECU, so being able to read that would ...

That Opti-Grip system looks good, but it'll tie up 12 inputs. Is it possible to interface I2C sensors directly to the RCP? What form does the RJ-45 expansion port take?

That's scary stuff! Lucky you didn't find out on the track. Nothing worse than the throttle picking up under braking. I had it happen this year (the ECU controls secondary throttle bodies based on TPS input) and nearly had a bump. I'd like to blame my crash at Crystal Palace on it, but that was my f...

I won't be able to get any photos for some time as the car isn't nearby. However, it's a box like this: http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Environment/Pix/pictures/2013/3/18/1363628681780/Tupperware-food-plastic-c-008.jpg I drilled holes in the lid to mount the RCP on the two standard mounting hole...

I've mounted mine to the lid of a Tupperware box, which is then bolted to the spaceframe. The Tupperware box provides isolation from vibration, water and dust. No problems with vibration at all.

I just posted this on another thread, but I use XoomCentre, which is free. I've written a plugin to import data directly from the logs RCP outputs. Happy to send it over - just PM me an email address.

I've been using XoomCentre for analysis. It's a great bit of software and free. It baulks if I log different channels at different rates, so I log all channels at the same rate and I've written a plugin to import the data directly from the SD card. Happy to share - just PM an email address and I'll ...

I use an RPM output from my ECU. Do you have a similar output you could tap?

The inputs are only rated to 40V. I wouldn't hook a cable directly to the HT lead. You're probably frying the unit.

How about a script that looks for speed < 5mph and then counts down, adjusting an analogue output for voltage from 5v to 0v. Then just put a multimeter on the dash connected to the analogue output. Simples! I'm still a bit confused about Lua though, so maybe not so simples...
