The goal in for the dash was to avoid the expense of an AIM MXS or MXG. The displays would be similar to those: A slimmer tach graph, lap counter, best time, last time, predictive time, warning lights that change color for water temp, oil temp, oil press, fuel press, volts. A flip to setup info that...

RaceCapture/Apex Questions

I have a few questions: 1) Is there a Bluetooth or other ODBII interface for pre-CAN bus ECUs? 2) Are the other dash options that are closer layout to the AIM/Motec/CDS race dashes? Can the phone/laptop used as a dash be connected via cable or is it only via Bluetooth? 3) Can an AIM dash like the MX...

Are you planning a GPS upgrade that also uses GLONASS? My experience is GPS alone frequently has issues with a fairly weak signal from most of the satellites. With GLONASS in addition, the strongest satellites aren't any stronger, but the weaker satellites are a lot stronger. What are the modes othe...

Question: How Many Satellites does the GPS Typically Find?

I expect to convert to RaceCapture this winter. I'm currently using a 10Hz BT GPS receiver. With that receiver it typically shows 8-11 satellites where the smartphone shows 21-23 satellites. }

What is typical for the 50Hz GPS with the RaceCapture?

Brent, thanks for getting back to me. Summary: Linear Position, brake pressure, steering angle, and throttle consume the the 8 analog ports Tire temps come in as 4 CAN addresses per wheel, each with 4 multiplexed 2-byte readings. 16 CAN addresses ideally to 64 channels but I'm guessing they can rema...

I've logged up to ~16 CAN messages at 30hz without any issues on the latest firmware. I've also used the RCPmk2 with a terminal program to grab everything off the HS vehicle CAN bus at the 30hz max sample (tick) rate. Max sample speed is 30hz: http://www.autosportlabs.net/RaceCapturePro_Lua_Scripti...

CAN Bus Questions

I would like to have the option of a number of sensors, some that need to be sampled at 500Hz, and some that have a native I2C interface. How many channels can the RCM2 capture through the CAN interface? What is the maximum sampling speed? What is the maximum data speed? How are the maximum sampling...

This contact sensor is only $1000 and covers a range to 1800°F which should alert the team to brake temp problems. The temp paint is a course indicator but doesn't tell where the on the track the problem is or how the heat capacitance and cooling interact. http://thesensorconnection.com/sites/defaul...
