I finally have some time to work on this, and my results so far have been unsatisfactory. Ignoring Lua scripting for now (failure after failure to even get a response from the ECU), I looked into the available documentation the Subaru Select Monitor protocol uses an ISO9141 interface which I thought...

jlwall, huge thank you for the info; the explanation is very thorough. I just need to figure out what I actually need from the ECU - I may be able to get away with a single channel... and unpack the info you provided! Does the RaceCapture interface well enough with the Subaru ECU to pull RPM and spe...

Subaru SSM protocol over OBDII

Diving into the world of logging from the Subaru ECU I found a good bit of information from the RomRaider site (a tool I've begun using because of the tuner who is working on my engine/map). The Subaru ECU uses the SSM protocol to handle request/responses to the ECU (reading and writing): http://rom...

polling JDM OBDII

Need help to determine why I'm not seeing any data from the ECU of a 2003 JDM STI ECU using the legacy OBDII adapter. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find much information on the web about what communication protocol or baud rate it is expecting. Is there a LUA script I could try to dump the d...

I'll second this request. I have my RC Pro/2 mounted in an not easily accessible location and have tried an extension ribbon as pictured above, but have not had success with writing to the MicroSD card. The unit flashes the error light when I try logging. Being able to download log files through the...

Have you tried a different extension? yes, I have tried 2 of the same style extension cable (different lengths). It doesn't help you but one thing I asked for a long time ago was a way to get the log files from within the RaceCapture application. I still wish that feature was implemented. agreed, i...

Question: micro-SD extension cable

Hello, quick question about installation. I am putting my RCP 2 behind the 'dash' of my car so it is not immediately accessible. I would like to add an extension cable for the microSD slot so I can remove the card without having to pull/reach behind the dash. I've tried the ribbon style extension ca...

Absolutely! Thanks.

Going to be slow over the winter while I wait for the hard-top to be delivered at the end of Jan. After that I plan to have the car registered and ready for track sessions by the spring; then I will try to drive the wheels off it.

RaceCapture/Pro2 installed in 818 project/track car

Greetings! I just acquired a RaceCapture/Pro 2 (thanks Santa… or wife) for use in a Factory Five Racing 818 car I have been building. The goal is to get the car completed and to the track in the spring of 2016, and adding the datalogger is a nice touch. The 818 is a Subaru powered, rear drive tube f...
