Pully & Teeth

Absolutly correct. I fitted a custom trgger wheel to my Vauxhall pully and they are both the same size. Therefore the teeth do not stick out from the pully at all. It works perfectly.

EDIS Tacho

I had just the same thing with mine, the pin (11 off the top of my head) is blanked out on the connector. However there is a techo output on the MJLJ that runs my Telemetrix guage perfectly (simply by connecting the two together). If I remember collectly there is a diagrm inthe file section of this ...

EDIS Signal

With Ford EDIS the answer to your question is basically no. The VR sensor measures the magntic properties around it, the toothed wheel when spinning in front of the sensor basically produces a wafe form in the sensor, the missing tooth causes an anomoly in that wave form. The EDIS module looks for t...

MartinM, I'm with you on

MartinM, I'm with you on this one, the cap is by no means a requirement, it simply provides the smoothing of the -ve line on the coils (the line where the physical power drawn from). I only kept the cap bacuase I used the orginal ford loom for the EDIS side. There would be no detrimental effect to n...

25uF cap

Just to clarify the 25uF cap is not required but is included (by Ford) as radio suppression in the coil circuit. I personally have kept it in the orginal wiring loom (the small grey block about the size a match box) to avoid radio problems.

I guess it is up to you if you include it or not.

25uF Cap

You can see the Cap on my installation right next to the coil pack. As SRandle said it's part of the orginal loom from the standard production cars.

Araldite

Dont even consider Araldite. Although in some applications this type of adhesive will cope with the stresses. Araldite & many eproxy based products actually get softer when the get hot. This is the primary problem, as failure inside the adhesive layer would occur due the heat and vibration combi...

25uF Cap

The 25uF cap is part of the EDIS setup (The grey block, about the size of a match box) and is there for noise suppresion in the coil lines, it helps to reduce the RF noise that production cars are tested for.

2D Mode

What you can do initally is use a timing light to get your current mechanical curve and put this into the MJLJ. Running the MJLJ in 2D mode (ie without a vacuum line connected and place your timing values in the map at around 100kpa (atmosphere). This should allow you to run the car on the MJLJ unti...

Perfect

Thanks for all the info guys. Glad to here I can map on the fly. I guess the only improvement I could think of would be to allow the site to be modifed and uploaded from the realtime display. But I guess that would have to wait for a new version of MegaJolt Tune. I am unfortunatly not a Java program...

Mapping on the Fly

All,

After an unplanned engine change, my car is finally ready to have it's map tweaked. It is possible to change the advance number in a bin with the eninge still running? Will the MJLJ use the new advance?

Thanks

Simon

Pully location

Robert, Just to answer your timing ring question. I have mine bolted to the fron of the crank pully on my Vx engine. The pully is actually the same size as the toothed wheel. This means that the edge of the pully is at thesame level as the top of the teeth, however even with the edge of the pully so...

I agree, this is best as you

I agree, this is best as you would avoid the pulsing effect from only taking a vac reading from once cylinder. I personally have a manifold that has vac point at cyl-1 and servo point at cyl-4 no balance pipe. As I have no need for the servo point, I have linked cyl-1 & 4 together, this gives a ...

Toothed Wheel

The toerance of +/-0.1mm is more than accurate enough. The EDIS unit counts based ont he waveform of the sensor so as long as the gaps and teeth a roughly the same size it will work fine. Consider that the normal ford engine using the EDIS system has a cast set of teeth on the flywheel and these are...
