Thanks Bernt, will do. Do you have a diagram of for the MK3 of what axis are in relation to the box. I found one in the Mk2 setup but i could not find one for the Mk3.

Thanks!

Gyro Settings for Solostorm - RCP MK3

Can someone give me the x/y/z settings thst work with solostorm? How are the axis mapped and are any inverted? My rcpmk3 is mounted square in the chassis with the plug facing the front of the car as the install guide suggests. I cant get them mapped so that solostorm gyro overlay displays properly. ...

02 BMW M3 - OBD2 Legacy or OBD/CAN cable?

I know the legacy cable is for all vehicles the older than 2007.

BUT: The e46 M3 stock ECU does have CAN support. Does this mean I can/should use the OBD/CAN cable for my RCPmk3? or should i still use the legacy cable?

Thanks!

After my last post i got an email from AEM. They will be enabling the steering angle sensor data to be broadcast on the AEMnet CAN with the next software/firmware update for the AEM infinity for the e46. So I think I will wait for that to happen rather than trying to tap the other wires as it is not...

Yes it is definitely working, the AEM sees it and is using its data.

I'll give it a shot this afternoon and see what happens.

Does the OEM CAN still work without the stock ECU in the system?

I would have. Ever thought of that...

Currently the race capture is connected to the aemCAN net plug directly so everything else is mapped according to their values and output from AEM.

So you are saying, just tap the stock e46 CAN wires, put them on the CAN2 of the rcp, then map it there via oem sensor mapping?

I am using the stock e46 M3 sensor, which the AEM infinity ECU can see.

But the AEM infinity does not output that data onto the CAN BUS like the stock e46 ECU does.

That's the problem

I suppose I could manually tap it and then add it into one of the analog sensor inputs in the RCP.

Is that what you were thinking?

Update:

Got confirmation that for the e46 M3, the AEM Infinity does not output the steering angle data to the CAN.

The AEM can see the info from the stock sensor, but just does not output. I have asked to see if it is possible to add it as an output for he e46. I'll update when i have an answer.

MSB vs LSB Most Significant Byte vs Least Significant Byte Just determines what the first byte of the data is starting with, like reading right to left vs left to right. It looks like the two channels that you have highlighted in the second pic are the exact same thing, just broadcast in a different...

Brent,

any thoughts on how to set up the steering angle sensor with this info from AEM?

Feel like I am missing something...
