Re: capacitor for coil 12V pos supply ?

OK , curious , I should see if I can find the 'tube and the comment. Interesting to know you do not use a cap. and collectively would have done thousands I would guess. Lucky I don't have much in the way of electronics onboard. I did read of someone reverting to non resistor plugs to debug something...

capacitor for coil 12V pos supply ?

OK, there is a youtube out there , soundless demo of the components, showing among other things, the pos and neg of the crank sensor and a part number. Among the comments viewers have added, someone who has done 20 odd EDIS set ups, mentioned that on all Fords donating EDIS units use a 5 to 25uF cap...

My thoughts exactly :)

Shielding is typically done at the EDIS module end.

And in my case, same recommendation so anyone else can find just where it is earthed I assume?

Cheers,

PIN 7 is wire delete on both EDIS4 modules

Yep, another curve ball in my hands and yet to read of this in here anywhere . Both 91AB-12K072-AA and 95BB-12K072-CA (look at that 12K072 looks similar to partial part number of FoMoCo camshaft sensor I found in Mazda 2.3) EDIS4 modules sourced from AUDM cars - the pig tail plug is solid plastic wh...

That I will do when I find out Brent.

I sort of get the impression that once people are up and running , not too many come back in to add comment. Am I correct ?

FoMoCo sensor 6M8G 12K073 ??

Maybe someone can help me shortcut things... as I have been gathering bits for the EDIS MJ conversion I picked up a free sensor from a Mazda ^ 2.3 litre camshaft position. Ford part in a Mazda is no longer a surprise. I am working on setting up a test rig with my spare trigger wheel to test sensors ...

Re: wire in a line test plug ?

What is a "lonely old plug", exactly? One with no mating connector plugged in :) My old mid 80's Subaru had a few of them scattered about the place. They feature in the manuals diagrams etc and I believe their purpose is initially on the assembly line to ensure each wire has what it is su...

Bit more space in my head now without that question filling up my RAM. I better hook 'er up and have a little look. Thanks Brent

lead position on coil pack variable ?

if my thinking is correct, on a twin coil pack for a 4 cylinder, the lead positions of each side (each coil) can be swapped, front to back, back to front BUT NOT side to side (from one coil half to the other) without any change to the operation or firing order ?

wire in a line test plug ?

I think I am going to try to remember to wire in a lonely old plug into my install to test each circuit - much like I find assembly line end check plugs about my old 80s Subaru's. The more I read these posts, I think it could be a wise idea - so long as nothing shorts them out like a test tacho I ha...

Looking at the date, no wonder I didn't reply to this. I ended up in intensive care ward when pneumonia tried to finish me off , two weeks later. Well this keen bean is back and getting closer to the install , possibly only using its factory knock circuit to indicate if I can. It is 1985 Subaru EA82...

Re: New style Ford coil pack (wasted spark) 101

OK, thanks again. I think I read on Trigger Wheels that they describe two coil differences as Type 1 [earlier] and Type 2 Preference is on Type 1 I reckon I have figured Type 1 coil towers look more squat with an external rib for the yeah, almost normal [not central pin type] lead terminal inside. T...

Re: Crank Sensor Voltage and EDIS

aha ! square wave gets a mention.
I am new to all this stuff and learning square waves are from Hall Effect sensors and for MJ/E plus EDIS is supposed to not be square , but whatever Variable Reluctor sensor produces.
No wonder I am getting confused :)
