Potting thru hole components
We do this at work and had problems originally... when the potting compound goes off, it'll move and shrink etc., which can actually break legs of components and pull solder joints and pads etc. What we do now is to use "Silcoset" first... a pliable silicone rubber compound... we pot the b...

Trigger wheel clearance
My trigger wheel is only 2mm bigger than my pulley all round and doesn't cause me any problems, and the pulley is cast iron... all I can think that'll happen is that a small dc offset will occur in the signal... What I can say for definate is that it works fine for me. <a href="http://photobuck...

Most front scratters
most front scratters don't have the timing wheel on the front pulley, but instead the marks are in the flywheel and the sensor is mounted through the engine block. If you are lucky, you might stumble across a Sierra 1.8 CVH... this has the timing wheel on the front pulley and it can be prised off wi...

A steel pulley will not
A steel pulley will not cause you any problems at all. I'm using a standard Ford Pinto bottom pulley and a Sierra CVH trigger wheel <a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m227/capri_turbo/MJLJ/mjlj7324.jpg" border=...

Programming completely blank micro
Help... a mate of mine has a V2 board that is nearly completed... he's taking his time lol, but he's somehow managed to loose his programmed MC. I have a brand new one here, but it's completely blank. Is there a way I can program it from scratch? I take it i'd need to build some sort of simple progr...

Farnell online UK
you can get everything you need from them, except of course for the PCB, enclosure and programmed chip. When I got mine around March 06, anyone could purchase from Farnell's website... minimum order was £20 and next day postage was free. They have the MAP sensors in stock now (2339857 at £11.626 e...

Sound great Brent
I have 1 question regarding uploading 2 maps as I really want to do this. Does the current tuning software support 2 maps? I'm guessing it must do. I'm probably being a bit dense here, but I'm guessing that to upload the second map to the MJLJ you would do so with the aux switch "switched on&qu...

Brent... possible magzine article
Hi Brent Following the successful install of my V3 MJLJ unit to my Capri, I am thinking of writing an article on fitting the MJLJ to the Capri for Capri Club International's monthly magazine which is circulated ONLY to CCI members. I thought it best to ask your permission before proceeding. Hopefull...
Timing lights
I use a Sealy TL93 digital timing light with advance dial... it reads spot on for advance with the wasted spark system, but as expected it reports RPM as twice the real RPM. My brother has a Snap On one... if I get time, I'll try and compare readings from both and get back to you.

Now running reliably
After a few inital problems with the EDIS connector not making a good contact, the Capri is now up and running on the MJLJ unit and what a difference it has made compared with the distributor... <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i105.photobuck...

It's locking together fine
it is the pins that are loose in the sockets when the thing is together... going to have a fiddle with it later... cleaning and trying to tighten up the pins a bit.
