from the tuning books that I have read for the Ford OHC (Pinto), and going back over my college notes, the combustion chamber shape and position of spark plug will limit the amount of advance that an engine can use, also, compression ratio and fuel octane rating will also affect the amount of advanc...

pinto install is easy using a 36-1 from a Sierra CVH and an alloy bracket for the VR sensor. Here's mine on my Capri: http://www.ford-capri.fsnet.co.uk/whiterose/images/pulley.jpg http://www.ford-capri.fsnet.co.uk/whiterose/images/sensor_bracket.jpg http://www.ford-capri.fsnet.co.uk/whiterose/images...

oh yes, you can't use the original vac advance line as it does not see full manifold vacuum hence getting the adaptors from Demon Tweeks (aprox £12 delivered). I had already removed the PCV due to the cam etc. and routed the crankcase breather to a small filter. I brought all the wires and vac hose ...

Go with the MAP sensor option... I'm running it on my Capri 2.1 with a Piper 285 cam, stage 3 head, 38 DGAS and it's absolutely fine. Been running MJLJ for almost a year now and it's the best thing I ever did to the engine. I did a Capri (pinto) specific installation guide on my website and an artic...

2 per rotation on a 4 cyl 4 stroke... that works out at 33.3333Hz at 1000RPM. I have used the LM2917 in the bargraph section of my DIY rev counter and it works spot on with the MJLJ tach output. http://www.ford-capri.fsnet.co.uk/whiterose/images/rev_counter.jpg More info on my rev counter here: http...

I don't think you can get the bootloader onto a blank chip using the MJLJ hardware. I'm sure you need a seperate programmer. I'm currently building a "Willette" programmer on some stripboard for a possible Megasquirt project a friend is working on, so I thought i's also have a go at making the adapt...

Scotch Corner Hotel tomorrow... lots of nutty Capri owners and old skool fords meeting up for a chat and a pint. Just thought it would be close enough to you if you needed to meet up to try things as I have a V3 MJLJ setup on my 2.1 Pinto. Sounds like you have it sorted though, so I'll leave the lap...

I should be local "ish" to you on Saturday afternoon... Scotch Corner Hotel from 2PM to be exact. (white Capri with 2 litre pinto). Unfortunately I don't have a laptop at the moment. Although I may be able to "borrow" one from work for the weekend. It has a very bad battery though and may only last ...

I designed and built my own digi tacho a while back. http://www.ford-capri.fsnet.co.uk/whiterose/led_rev_counter.htm http://www.ford-capri.fsnet.co.uk/whiterose/next_gen.htm it works quite well with the V3 MJLJ tach output. Potting thru hole components
We do this at work and had problems originally... when the potting compound goes off, it'll move and shrink etc., which can actually break legs of components and pull solder joints and pads etc. What we do now is to use "Silcoset" first... a pliable silicone rubber compound... we pot the board with ...

Trigger wheel clearance
My trigger wheel is only 2mm bigger than my pulley all round and doesn't cause me any problems, and the pulley is cast iron... all I can think that'll happen is that a small dc offset will occur in the signal... What I can say for definate is that it works fine for me. <a href="http://photobucket.co...
