Capri 2.1 Pinto Running (updated pictures)
Well... I finally got it fitted and running today. Was a lot easier than I thought it would be too. I have 1 problem though which is quite major... the contact between the EDIS4 and it's multiplug is very poor and the car keeps cutting out and won't restart as a result. Breaking the connection and r...

So this info may be of some use afterall
I'll do some photographs of the unit, but unfortunately it is now dimantled, but I can easily reassemble it (sort of) to explain how to get the unit out intact. I'll get onto it this week. the idea of being able to configure the map sensor in the firmware sounds good. If only we had a good supplier ...

It won't work properly unless as you say
the tables in the firmware are altered. I don't actually need to use it anyway, as I have the MPX4250AP fitted already to my MJLJ, I was merely trying it out to see if there was a cheap way of obtaining this part for future reference. As I got the part for nothing, I havn't lost anything, but have g...

Bad news I'm afraid...
The sensor used withing the Ford Map sensor (from a normally aspirated Fiesta XR2) is "MPX4101A" and from looking at the data sheet, it won't be suitable...
It was worth a try though.

Brent, here's what I have found so far
When I got all my EDIS stuff from the local breakers yard, I got it all from a 1990 Fiesta XR2. I just grabbed the whole lot, which included the factory fitted MAP sensor. I decided to open up this map sensor, and inside there is a PCNB fitted with a PIC and a similar map sensor chip. The only probl...

MAP sensors
I may be onto something that may save us UK peeps a bit of money... it involves a small amount of effort, but if I am correct, you may well be able to get a map sensor chip for circa £3 sterling... ok... it won't be new at that price, but it may be an option for those struggling to get / afford the...

I designed and built it
and it will run off the contact breakers etc. I'll have to see how small a signal it will actually work from. As you say... i'll just have to try it... Shouldn't be too difficult to build a small amplifier module to up the power from the tacho output though.
Cheers for the quick replies.

ahhh. I understand now
So I could use this function with a rely to cut the power to coil pack as a "hard" rev limit...
My learning curve is quite steep at the moment.

Is there not a function in the tuning software
Is there not a function in the tuning software to alter this? I havn't got up and running yet and I'm still learning myself, but in the tuning software I have, it has a rev limit setting under the "programmable outputs" tab. I'm currently fitting MJLJ V3 to my Capri (2.1 pinto). What map a...

Tacho output... will it run 2 tachos
Do you think the tacho output on the V3 board will be up to triggering 2 tachometers? In the Capri I have the O.E tacho and one I designed and made at home. <img src="http://www.ford-capri.fsnet.co.uk/whiterose/images/rev_counter.jpg" /> I have tested this digital one at work and it'll sti...

triangular brace
Yes Brent, i will probably be doing something like that eventually. As the bracket is ally, I'll have to either bolt something across it or have it tig welded... we do tig at work, but ours is for stainless and isn't AC... I think there is a local guy who has an AC tig machine... EDIT: made up a tri...

The MK2 facelift
The MK2 facelift Capri, commonly referred to as the MK3 Capri wasn't exported to the US... it was just a Europe model. The body is the same as the 74 to 78 Capri that you would have got over there and will take a 302... a mate of mine is doing a 302 conversion on his Capri at the moment. My other on...

Looking at later in theyear I think... I'm going to use your idea with the cut down distributer casing too as I want to retain the layout of the plug leads. I have a lot of fettling to do yet, but I'm hoping to have the whole lot up and running during the summer. I'm busy rebuilding my 2.8i Turbo Ca...

Capri installation (2.1 Pinto engine) W.I.P
My MJLJ controller is built and seems to be working fine... managed to upload a map to it using 4600's tuner software and it is reading 102kPa on the bench... Now onto the mechanical bit. I've got the bracketing sorted to mount the VR sensor, and it is fully adjustable to get the timing spot on. Tha...
