You can try whatever you like, but as long as you are not doing the one and only test that shows if your basics are ok you are barking up the wrong tree. So disconnect the MJ, hook up a set of earthed plugs to the coil pack, start the engine and see if you get sparks. If that works you can move on, ...

Yes there could be. If the mounting to the cranck shaft is not rigid there is the risk of the trigger wheel momentarily getting too far away from the VR sensor, missing reading a tooth and thus messing up the timing.

Is the polarity of the sensor the right way around? Pin 6 of the Edis connector must be connected to the left hand spade of the sensor, pin 5 to the right hand one. Left and right is defined with the back of the sensor pointing downward and the bolt hole to the right. I don't know about how to test ...

By disconnecting the MJ you can at least see if the plugs are firing using the Edis-module only. However, you can't see if they are firing at the correct moment or that they are firing consistently. In addition you can't see if the trigger wheel is set correctly. For sorting out these basics you nee...

Check if all pins in the Edis- and MJ-connector are pressed home. If there is one that is making marginal contact due to uncorrect installation you may end up like this. When you are sure that all contacts are in order, hook up the coil pack and have the spare spark plugs connected, disconnect the M...

After some tinkering the cooling fan works briliantly :D. In order to get more sense from the Aux Input gauge I inverted the voltage reading, so now it starts at 0 when the enige is cold. A little piece of film to show it (warning up front: put the sound down, the audio recording was horrible ...

Great job, fine looking figures. Do I see correctly that you use an exhaust with a sidepipe?

This way worked for me. There aren't many amperes involved so if the electrics of your car are ok it should do fine. Just keep anything that may catch fire away from the plugs  . The sparks are only a gapwidth big, so there isn't too much to it. Start with the Edis module only, then you can ch...

That was not the problem. The MJ powers down when I turn off the engine, but the moment the power is off the User Outputs begin to lead. The relay is used to power the cooling fan and you don't want that running with the engine off (not too long at least). It will stop eventually, but then the batte...

User outputs leading with ignition off?

I tried using Output 1 for switching a relay at a determined Aux Input value. This works but once ignition is switched off the output starts to be leading, thus activating the relay. When I checked Output 2-4 these showed the same problem. Is this normal?

Can't tell, but don't you have an old set of plugs lying about? If you connect these to the leads attached to the coilpack and earth them you have the perfect way to test. I used a piece of metal bar with threaded holes that held the plugs. When you attach a timing light to the lead of plug 1 you ca...

The MJ's Aux Input pin is connected to the standard coolant temp sensor. A diode is used to protect the MJ from the 12 volts that come from the dashboard gauge on the same wire; maybe not needed, but better safe than sorry. The film shows the engine warming up and the impact on the reading of the Au...

1975 Saab 96 on MAP version

Though a far cry from being roadworthy it is officially powered by Megajolt and as the MJ-aspects might be of interest I place it here in the gallery. Hookup works, but I got a slightly lower reading on the temp gauge now :( . I will experiment with the setup this long weekend and post update when it works as wanted.

First test all connections between the TPS and the MJ. If that looks ok try how the TPS behaves when you remove it from the carb and turn it from 0% to 100% load with the engine running.
