connecting problems again

Post by Swedge »

so after sending my ecu back to get repaired i have the problem again :(

last time it was the processor + oscillator, i received it back and everything was fine so i left it at that

finally got the car on the road today plugged it into my laptop which is known as working using the rs232 port and getting the timeout error like i did last time

the led is lighting up on the ecu but still no connectivity just the same old timeoutt error

ive ran the car with and without the ecu and there is no difference so im taking it as its not advancing

anyway i can check to see if those have failed again before i send it off again :(

ive followed the testing voltages part on here and everything is fine

Verify +5v at the test point. if the test point is covered with green solder mask, you can test on the adjacent pads on D1 or R9.

im getting 4.94v

U1: Verify +5v across the Vdd, Vss pins of U1

4.94v

IC1: Verify approximately +V-Supply (about .6 volts lower than +V-Supply) across the IC1 CD+ and Gnd pins

7.09v

U2: Verify +5v across Vcc and GND pins of U2

4.94v

QG1: Verify +5v across Vcc and GND of oscillator QG1

4.94v

those are the readings im getting from the various pins

Hi guys sorry for all the pm's but I have a 240 mile trip with my car club on the 18th which I might have to miss now

nothing different has happened to the car it's sat in my drive and been started a few times since I received it back from you

I finished fitting the interior so took it out on the road and didn't feel right so I hooked it up to my laptop through the rs232 port and no connectivity again

I've drove it with and without the ecu and there's no difference I've hooked it up to my main pc using the rs232 port and still nothing

Gonna have a check over of my alternator and make sure it's not over charging or anything

I'll get the ecu posted out today nitropixie I'll send my cables too just in case it's them

Thanks again :)

hi guys just to let you know, ive tested my alternator and im getting 14.4volts on idle

give it a good rev and it goes to 14.7 volts no higher

when i put the heaters on heated window blowers etc it drops to 12v

give it a rev and it goes to 13v

so the alternator is working fine
