Both chips are the same, but if you have a V2.X board and a V3.x board, the MJLJ firmware is different.

If you didn't keep track of which processor came with which board, the safest thing is to re-program the 2.x firmware onto the 2.x board, and re-program the 3.x firmware onto the 3.x board.

Post by tedzbug »

I have both chips because i originally bought the earlier board, then bought the late board and processor........ Now i am assembling and dont know how to tell them apart. One has an obvious
motorola logo on it.

the numbers on both chips are:

Motorola chip
MC68HC908
KX8CP 2L09H
CPAH0403

Other chip
MC68HC908
KX8CP 2L09H
CPAA0552

Troubleshooting the above:

Are you interrupting power after it sees the chip?
Have you tried a different serial cable?
Does it happen with the 2.x board and 3.x board?

Post by brentp »

Cutting the power during programming does not matter- the bootloader code is not touched during this process. I would just try again. If you still have problems, try the other suggestions-
