Amazon Fire and OTG

Post by Aussieotto »

Folks

I have a Amazon Fire HD 8 and Ebay OTG cable . I have some questions.

Currently the fire does browse USB key in the OTG cable,

Is there "good" vs "bad" OTG cables with regards to connecting to the my MK3?

Does anyone have a link to w known good cable I can order.

Do I need to Root the Fire or do anything else to expect this to work ?

The OTG cable has a switch so it either charges or is in OTG mode. Is it possible to charge and be in OTG mode?

Thanks

Peter

I have this cable. It works perfectly with an old Nexus 5 (not rooted).

The USB OTG spec does not allow connection and charging at the same time, unfortunately. It's not something in our control.

What is possible is to use a device that allows wireless charging, so you can connect with OTG, and then charge with a wireless charging pad, or something like this:

Hope this helps!
