Ignition Wiring 12V

Post by damunk »

I have the 2 cables under the steering wheel.
Permanent and Ignition wire.

Is it okay if I tap into the ignition with:
1)Fuel Pump
2)Megajolt & Edis

Will it draw too much power?
I read earlier that if you draw too much power from these cables on a same circuit that it can blow the fuse but I need both the above with ignition and not from battery.

Put some relays.
This is what I've done: I get power from battery but I've put a relay for each system which is controlled with ignition wire.
That's the way to do it. Add also some new fuses to your new harness.

Can't I just cut into wire nice and neat using a terminal box like the below?

My megajolt and edis have inline fuse.

Also is it better to go into the fusebox and use a slot where it is empty using the below adaptor.

The above adaptor lead works, getting power straight from the fuse box.

A question please.

I have connected megajolt to a power supply from the fuse box that engages on ignition when you turn the key to get the computer lights on. The megajolt green light comes on.

BUT.

When you turn the engine the megajolt green light flashes off and then back on for 3 tenths of a second.
Is this okay?

p.s I'm only doing the wiring at present. No coil packs connected yet.

Thanks.

It sounds like your fuse box connection loses the power while the engine is cranking. This would disable the MegaJolt I think.

I have done a test 'tightwad'.

Not all of the fuse box loses power for that split second of cranking.

FUSES A) Only certain fuses that connect to the immobilizer go off and on. I HAVE NOT TRIED THE ECU FUSES
FUSES B) The permanent ones like lights, cigarette lighter, reg plate light stay on through the fuse box. With key "on" or off". They stay on from battery power.

Can someone help me in electrical terms about "relays"

Is it possible to have some sort of relay from FUSES A to FUSES B.?

Also shall I try the ECU fuse connections? I mean surely if they did not have 12v on cranking then the car would not work with its original ECU.

Where is the wire from the ignition switch that powered your original ignition? That's what I use to energize a relay and supply battery power to the EDIS/Megajolt.
