Race Capture + Tablet = Telemetry??

Post by slammed200 »

Hi All,

I have the OBDII RaceCapture and connected through it's WiFi Access Point is my Tablet (same tablet we used with the RaceCapturePro). However, now that the tablet is connected to a WiFi spot it doesn't seem to want to use it's internal antennae to reach the cell phone towers... this means I can't live stream data as far as I can figure.

What am I missing? How can I live stream my data from the car during a race now?

I also have a separate WiFi hotspot, could I connect the RaceCapture to the hotspot, and the tablet to the RaceCapture? Will that provide access to the cell phone towers?

Sorry for not catching this earlier.

If your tablet has a SIM card, then by connecting to a WiFi network may cause android to think there's an internet connection available through that WiFi network. Newer Android devices and iOS don't fall for that, however.

What you can do is enable the hotspot on the tablet and then configure RC to connect to the tablet's hotspot by configuring it's client wifi settings. Or, as you mentioned, you can have a common hotspot in the car and do something similar.

We mention these cases here in the wiki:

Keep us posted on how it goes!
