New Race Capture Traack Question

Hello,
I'm excited for the new race capture track, especially the external GPS antenna which should improve accuracy.
I bought the original with the OBDII adapter for older cars. I just placed a pre-order for the CAN version of the new one. My question is, can I use the OBDII adapter from the original with the new CAN version I ordered, thus having a solution for the full spectrum of vehicles 1997 and up vehicles? Wasn't sure if the only difference was the adapter that connects to the OBD/diag port itself. Thanks!
