OBDII Fault Codes?

Post by aaronvogel »

Hey all,
We're putting together a 2006 Mini Cooper S and I'm getting all the data components together.

Right now I've got a RCP MKII, the legacy OBDII adapter and have ordered the ShiftX3.

We're going to set up a Raspberry Pi and the RPi 7" display as our primary dashboard display showing basic gauges and such.

What I'm wondering is if I need to plan for a separate OBDII code reader to get any CEL fault codes, or if RCP's OBDII integration can read and display these codes. Would be handy if so, so I don't have to disconnect and reconnect the the RCP just to read codes.

Also, if anyone has specific tips or pointers for the R53 Mini I'll take those too. :)

Thanks.

We have a few OBDII examples here that you might find interesting. They could be adapted to set a value to a virtual channel if you wanted to:

Hope this helps, let us know what you end up figuring out!
