V3.3.x firmware update for V3 hardware

Post by brentp »

Hello All,

Just a quick update on the V3.3.x firmware, for V3 hardware.

While I was able to leverage the work from the V4 controller, it has not been a straightforward copy-and-paste exercise.

The good thing is that I've ported all of the functionality from V4 to V3. The only thing different is in the V3.3.x firmware the advance correction table (bins and correction values) are stored in the global configuration data rather than in the main ignition config data. The significance of this is when you switch the option switch (if enabled): The option switch only switches the ignition table and user output configuration.

So to recap, here's what will be added in this release:

* Settable trigger wheel offset
* Dedicated setting for cranking advance (moved away from 0,0 in ignition map)
* Aux channel input (with hardware mod)
* Advance correction table
* User output 1-4 can handle RPM, Aux and Load triggering

I will be updating the configuration software to match- once done I will be kicking out a beta test version.

Thanks,

Excellent!!! Now I have something to play with over the winter season. Thank you for all your hard work, Brent. I don't know the first thing about modern-day code, my last experience was Basic, Pascal and Assembler almost 30 years ago. I am just a user now, but I have a lot of respect for those that can program stuff.

Well, I apologize it's taken so long- In any case, I thought it would be proper to get this out first to clear the deck for other things.

I've ran through my simulations and the code look good so far; I will be bench testing it in the next couple of days, then updating the configuration software to match.

That comes perfect. My engine will soon be rebuilt - what better than this update to accompany it !?

Watch for an x-mas present in the form of new V3 firmware and software. Firmware is done, I'm updating the software to match- The config software has far more lines of code! :)
