What's the firing order of the coils ?

Post by Patriq »

Sorry, but I just can't figure out - what is the firing order of the coil package ?

When I have the firing order of my 4 cyl engine - which cyl goes to which coil ?

Maybe this should be in the FAQ ?

The standard Ford coil has the cylinder numbers written next to the connectors. 1 and 4 fire together, then 2 and 3 I believe. On my Ford X-flow, cylinder 1 is at the front (fan end).

ok, thanks.

I'll check the coil pack again then. Couldn't see anything obvious last night. But then again - the garage where I'm working right now is rather dark.

Four cylinder engines run either 1243 or 1342. A wasted spark ignition should be connected with one coil pair connected to 1 and 4, the other coil pair on 2 and 3. The outputs of each coil pair are interchangeable, so this works for either firing order.
