PIN 7 is wire delete on both EDIS4 modules

Post by EA82GT »

Yep, another curve ball in my hands and yet to read of this in here anywhere
.
Both
91AB-12K072-AA and
95BB-12K072-CA

(look at that 12K072 looks similar to partial part number of FoMoCo camshaft sensor I found in Mazda 2.3)

EDIS4 modules sourced from AUDM cars - the pig tail plug is solid plastic where the wire would normally exit for pin7. The pin is still there in the EDIS.

The wires of one plug are long enough to tell a story too. I think it is wires 1, 3 & 4 are in the one shield and the end at the EDIS module , a few inches away, is just twiddled and wrapped in electrical tape.

Given that I have learned from an aircraft electrical engineer, that shielding cable must be Earthed only at one end otherwise it can create some stupid earth loop stuff. The donor cars must have been had their shielding earthed at a point I will never know.

I have seen others quoting their wire coding, that differs from mine

The pigtail is clearly marked as 1 and 12, and the module is marked PIN1 so I have no confusion as to what is what

Primary colour, then trace colour

PIN1 white/black ....... PIP to MJ
PIN2 white/green ......... NOT USED , so, snip it off?
PIN3 white/violet.........SAW to MJ
PIN4 black/blue .......NOT USED - SNIP?
PIN5 brown/red ....... VR sensor NEG (-)
PIN6 white/red ...... VR sensor POS (+)
PIN7 solid plastic - no hole find new earthing point for shielding
PIN8 green/red..... 12V POS IGN power supply
PIN9 black/orange .....share earth with MJ
PIN10 brown/blue.....COIL A
PIN11 white/black.....EDIS6 coil C ? has another function in EDIS4 ?
PIN12 brown/green ...... COIL B

Naturally, we recommend snipping off wires after you've verified full operation.

Shielding is typically done at the EDIS module end.

My thoughts exactly :)

Shielding is typically done at the EDIS module end.

And in my case, same recommendation so anyone else can find just where it is earthed I assume?
