Best Position for VR sensor

Hello All,
Am new to the forums and will have a question or two or more.
My son is putting a Chev V8 350ci in a 79 Datsun 280zx. We decided that putting an EDIS unit on the engine will eliminate the need to cut into the firewall and make body changes to make room for the distributor. Has anyone put EDIS on a GM motor? If so, where or how did you mount the VR sensor and the 36-1 wheel on the front of the engine (inside or outside the pulley)? Do you have images of this to show?
I have collected most of the EDIS parts and am in the process of assembling the MJLJ unit. Shortly I will be ready to mount the EDIS and would like any help or suggestions at this time.
