What software do I need for megajolt V 3 ???

Post by crossflow »

I have bought a megajolt kit in November 2005.
I soldered it and stored it away.
Now I would like to put in in my car.
The problem is I do not know which software version I should download.
I had a look and found out that there are
nine (9) different V3 software versions available.

Hi Cornelius,

Sorry for the late reply. You can find V3 downloads here http://www.autosportlabs.net/MJLJ_V3_Downloads

Hope this helps and isn't too late

Hi Ryan,

thanks for your answer.
I found the following versions:
V3.0.0
V3.1.0
V3.1.1
V3.1.2
V3.2.0
V3.2.1
V3.3.0
V3.3.1
V3.3.2

Which version should I download onto my computer ?

Hi,

I have read this forum a couple of hours.
Found an answer somewhere else, saying: you should download V 3.2.1
I did it and connected the MJLJ board.
I got a message that this version does not work with my firmeware.
So I downloaded and installed version 3.0.0

Now I got the "Could not open port" problem.
Clicking on "Tools" and "Options" I changed the the ComPort
Now I got the "Timeout reading runtime data" problem.

I got a laptop with serial port, so no USB-issues.
Than I have read more hours on this forum, so far I didn't found a solution.
The best I think, I gonna see Nitropixie on my next visit to the UK.
Btw I live in Germany.

What I would recommend is upgrade your unit to the latest firmware. You will gain some enhancements plus bug fixes. Plus, you will know for sure what version of the configuration software you can use.

* Upgrade to the 3.3.1 firmware
* After upgrading firmware, use the 3.3.2 configuration software.

Firmware upgrade guide can be found here:

Let us know how it works out!

Hi Brent,

thanks for your answer.

Sorry I can't report a success.

I followed the steps in the firmware upgrade guide.
I got the "Waiting for...." message and than: "received 0xfc (good)"
After powering up the unit I got:

"Calibration break pulse sent. Count:1
Can't read MCU info. Could be protocol error.
(Or forgot to set single wire mode?)"

Are you using a USB-Serial adapter? If so try using a machine with a built-in serial port. The programming software sometimes has issues with these adapters. Also, be sure when power is applied there is no glitch in that application of power (use a switch or some such so there's no 'bounce' in the contacts).

I don't use any USB-Serial Adapter, so no problems there.
Than I wired a switch in the power supply.
That made all the difference.
It worked!
Thanks again Brent.
