Where does Megajolt get RPM information from?

Post by Healey3000 »

Hi,

Since there is no connection for the crank sensor in Megajolt, is it safe to assume that the RPM information comes from the PIP signal? For a six cylinder engine, there would be three updates per revolution of the crank?

Thanks!

Hello,

Yes, the Megajolt calculates RPM based on the time interval between PIP signals.

Thanks Brent.

Rising edge, I assume, since the falling edge is variable? What exactly is the pattern of the PIP signal; I know that the falling edge is when an ignition event has taken place but when does PIP go high?

I'm hoping I don't need to wade thorugh the patent...

Regards.
