Timing at idle stays at 15degrees

Post by Wastedspark »

Hi I've just installed megajolt to my vw type1 1600 engine, running twin carbs,

I'm having a few issues, one thing I notice is that when idling at 800rpm the ignition advance display on the laptop is showing 15 degrees,
I've set the first three bins to 500, 800, and 1200. With timing of 12' 7' and 12' respectively so at 800rpm I should be seeing 7degrees or there abouts,

When I rev the engine there is a slight delay and then the advance display moves, the rpm is instant.

Could this be a map signal problem? I've tee'd the two carbs together, should I just take the vac from one side?

Thanks martin.

Can you upload the map you are using? Check if there is no extra advance programmed in the Advance Correction. Don't think it is a vacuum problem. Test it by putting a loose hose to the MAP sensor and suck on the other side. Does the MJ react the same as when connected to the carbs?
