Serial Comms using Tera Term or PuTTY etc

Post by capri_turbo »

I'm trying desperately to make sense of the Serial API with sending characters to the MJLJ V3 and reading what it returns, but if I send the characters as listed in the API, most do nothing, such as 'V' and others seem to return complete nonsense compared to what the API says they should return.

I'm doing this because I want to understand the serial comms better with a view to learning how to make a simple APP for my phone to read RPM, Advance, Load and Aux in real time.

I have set my comms port to the correct baud etc. and all I get is nonsense.

Any ideas? Windows 7 64bit.

Anybody?

I know the baud rate is correct because I get exactly the same through my Bluetooth connection to the MjLj... the tuner software works fine through the Bluetooth serial ports too which is encouraging.

Just need to get my head around the Serial commands and the nonsense they seem to return. Help would be nice.
