Spark cut at high rpm?

Post by demby123 »

Spark cuts out at 5500rpm( Used a timing light to check it). Soft rev limit set at 7200 rpm, with no hard rev limiter installed. Does the EDIS really have no built in rev limiter? I can't really figure out why it would cut at that rpm...

How rigid is your VR sensor brakcet? Might be it starts to vibrate at 5500rpm and that syncronisation isn't established again before rpm is down to ±1500rpm.

After a bit of research that's what I thought may have happened. I'll have a go at solving this problem when I get my distributor seal kit this weekend. The sensor is a modified stock distributor with a 72-2 trigger wheel and the original pickup sensor

Solved it, it still misfires, but at a much higher rpm

Glad you mostly figured it out. How many cylinders is the application? The upper rev limit for EDIS-4 is about 8000 RPM, max - less for EDIS-6 and 8.
