Edis car compatibility

Post by rumsawatti »

Hello, i am new here and not sure if this is the right section so I apologize for my ignorance before hand. I recently purchased a MJLJ system from here and went to my local junkyard today to source a few of the EDIS parts. I saw tons of fords in there and they all had what look to be edis modules and coils will any of these work or does it have to be from a 90-95 escort or contour or something. What is the difference between that edis system and say an edis from a 97 escort? The components all look to be the same. I wanted to verify before I bought and tried anything and then had it not work, the junkyard is pricey these days and it would save troubleshooting down the road to know it can work.

It can be from an Escort or a Fiesta, an early Mondeo or whatever, as long as the version you take is used on an engine with the same number of cylinders as your engine. There are two generations of coil packs. The first generation requires special connectors on the coil side. I believe that the second generation can handle standard connectors, making it possible to use your old leads without adjustment of the connectors.
