I gambled and took the unit apart.

Part II

Part II of the rebuild.

#04 The goal was to get the end of the spring back into the slot.  I lined them up like this and got the blade back into the slot.  Once the 2 halves were sandwiched together, I rotated the top half till the cable retracted all the way up.

Oh no! was it like that as new, or did something happen to prevent it from being able to retract?

I was checking the range and felt the unit shimmy and spring release then no tension. It was very easy to fix. Ive gotten in 6 runs and unit is performing as designed.
