Implementing rev limiter

Post by 4600cc »

Brendtp suggested this;

"Now - to implement the rev limit feature you need to feed the rev limit output to a solid-state relay or power transistor which will cut the power to the coil. *Note that I haven't tested this before*."

Nice, it cuts the power to coils. When I start searching for a proper relay on DigiKey I realized that I need help, bad!

Here are some links:

Automotive relays

Solid state relays

Among other things, I can't figure out which current I need, what kind of mount to use, and the switch function. Should I cut power to single coil or both of them, SPST or DPST??? Please help me find a correct relay or power transistor. Mounting box for it all will be nice as well. A led that will go off then power cut is nice too, put that thing on the dash like in race cars. Help me out with parts and I can put it together and make it work.
