MJLJ rev counter

Post by boldy205 »

Hi, i have a 205 gti running a 306 GTi6 engine on MJLJ and Webers.
When i got the car running a few years back i fitted two diodes (IN4004) and one resistor 1K +/-5% ( i think, bands are brown, black, red gold, im very novice!!) To rectify the dash tacho reading as it was reading half it should.
Im needing to make another one of these circuits, but its the resistor im confused about. I have taken it to Maplins, but they are unsure of what Voltage the resistor is.
My Questions are:

Has anyone used this circuit to solve the problem i had?

Does is matter/ why does it matter what Voltage the resistor is, and how do i know what V it is? (its green by the way!)

Many thanks

Matt
