TPS problem

Hi Guys. I have a problem with the TPS on my 2.0l zetec with megajolt lite Jr and twin webers
When calibrating the TPS it works fine with the ignition on going from 0% to 100% but when I start the engine it only works for a second and then just drops to zero or randomly jumps up and down without touching the throttle
I have run a separate cable from the TPS to the ECU thinking that was the problem but it makes no differance.
Has anyone any idea of what the problem might be or what the check.. Thanks
