Android app?

Post by Jaynen »

Any updates on the app? Seems like all the updates have been focused on race telemetry lately. We need the ability to stop/start and set start points via the app I think.

How is the app supposed to talk to the unit?

Hi Jaynen,

The mobile app will interface via the bluetooth adapter, as described in the indiegogo campaign. More info coming this week now that the mobile app / bluetooth module is on the front burner, now that we've fulfilled all of the RaceCapture/Pro + telemetry perks!

I saw the Facebook post showing the first batch of blue tooth modules undergoing test production, is there any more news?

Is the mobile app actually ready ?

Can we pre-register for a blue tooth module?

many thanks.

This looks awesome. I wish I had bought it initially so I could have gotten it that much quicker.

What was the final formula for the lap delta calculation?

Thank you! It's going to be releasing soon, very soon. :)

Lap delta is in two forms:

- Last lap time vs best lap time
- Current *predicted* time vs best time

Predicted time algorithm is still being worked on and will release separately from the mobile app in the form of a firmware update.

Saw blog post on the Predicted time algorithm:
changing the whole rest of the predicted lap time based on the %of speed difference at that instant seems like it would create huge differences in the predicted lap time and be pretty unusable. I would instead use the fastest lap recorded, then say at x distance(1000ft) from the start you were at TimeFastest(80seconds), but at this lap you were at TimeCurrent (81seconds), then the delta from the fastest to the current time would be +1seconds and the Predicted lap would be The fastest lap time 180 seconds + Delta = 181 seconds.

It pairs with it but when I open the app it just says: Unable to Connect.

We've noticed with samsung devices they you often need to disable / re-enable bluetooth at the system level, and try pairing and connecting again.

Let us know what you find out!

I have tried undoing it a few times, and if I recall it does pair but does not connect.

I'll have to try it again tonight or tomorrow and document exactly what I do.

Although I'm having similar issues with my Megasquirt Bluetooth. (It's worked with an HTC phone) I'm beginning to think it Samsung. I hope not. I just got a new one and could have picked anything. (work phone).

Keep us posted; lots of bluetooth android devices out there to try out. If you're up north of Seattle, let us know and we can take a look at it directly, too.

Based on information in the "Coming Soon" section here, http://www.autosportlabs.com/product/ra ... d-display/, is it part of the roadmap for the Android app to be an alternative to the current telemetry unit?

Hello,

The current RaceCapture app does supports telemetry now. The store entry has been updated, thank you.
