Car won't start with RCP3 connected

Post by UKSteve »

Evo X SST (MR in the US)

RCP3 installed, initially this is just connected to read via OBD, no sensors attached.

The car is having starting issues with the OBD cable plugged in, it will periodically start, and sometimes if you leave it for 20 minutes or so it will then start. By this I mean it won't crank over.
With the OBD cable unplugged there are no issues at all.

Any idea why it would do this or if anyone has come across this before?

Hi Steve,

That sounds like an odd one.

When you mean, "won't crank over" I'm assuming you don't mean from a drained battery, right? Just refuses to crank?

Do you see any dashboard lights as warning?

I'm guessing this might be related to CAN bus termination. By default, CAN bus termination is enabled on RaceCapture/Pro, but can be turned off through a hidden software switch (we need to expose it in the UI)

Some questions:
* If the cable is plugged in to your car but not RCP, do you see any problems?
* If OBDII is disabled in RCP (turn off the switch in OBDII settings and write it back to RCP) - do you still see the problems?
