Racecapture App on Amazon Fire 8 issues

Post by Intel »

So I am trying to pull my datalogs off of my Kindle Fire and I export them to a directory and they just don't show up in the windows explorer at all. Am I missing something here on how to export these? I tried searching the whole kindle from my windows 10 computer and nothing is coming up for logs.

Is there any future plans to make it easier to export multiple logs/sessions at once. It seems rather tedious to go through each one and then have to rename it before saving for 10 sessions.

Hi,

On Android you need to set the USB connection type to a mode that lets you browse files. Typically this is accomplished by selecting "Transfer photo mode" and then you'll be able to see the contents from windows.

We do have a task that tracks merging of sessions, which will help address exporting multiple files. We're tracking it here: https://github.com/autosportlabs/RaceCa ... ssues/1408

Thanks I eventually got the files off of it but I had to basically pull and reinsert the SD card. That seemed to make the amazon fire reindex the files so they could be seen by the PC.

I played around with it and I exported a couple more logs. They did not show up on my pc until I either restarted the amazon fire or pulled and reinserted and SD card. (The data was stored on the internal memory)

Seems like possibly an odd design of the Amazon Fire device. I didn't experience this on my Android Samsung Tablet.

Thanks for the insight into the grouping aspect. I still like keeping them as separate sessions just figure there would eventually be some way to batch export a weekend of sessions.

I was curious if there was any way to default the name of the new file to what the session name is? Currently it always brings up a file name?

Agreed on the session exporting. Tracking here:

Right now you do have to specify the filename, good idea to default the name to the session name if possible. Tracking here too! https://github.com/autosportlabs/RaceCa ... ssues/1447

Nice, this will be helpful. Currently, i use a File Manager app that can email out files so i email them to myself. Very clunky. :-D
